D03 [NG6] MODULAR VALVES When several modular valves are used together, how they are stacked can affect their performance. The modular valves can be broken down into two groups; those that function in the pressure line and those that function in the actuator lines. FUNCTION IN PRESSURE LINE Relief, Sequence and Reducing/Relieving valves: Relief valve should be installed next to the subplate. Reducing/relieving valve should be placed between the relief and directional control valve. If sequence and reducing modules are used together, the reducing valve should be closer to the directional control valve. Pressure Tank FUNCTION IN ACTUATOR LINE Flow control, P.O. check, Crossport Relief and Counterbalance valves: When using a crossport relief as a braking or deceleration valve it should be closest to the subplate. When using it to limit the pressure at the actuator, it should be closest to the directional control valve. When using a P.O. check module with a meter out flow control module, the P.O. check should be closer to the directional control valve. When using a counterbalance module, it should be closest to the directional control valve. Any pressure in the tank line will be additive to the pressure setting.
